Surrogacy

Because forming a family is a very personal matter, much more than the different types of family nuclei that can be formed.

The affection and love of a child is a matter of one or two, of a man or a woman, of couples of the same or different sex, because in the end the important thing is to be able to see them grow up and be happy.

HIV COUPLES

Most clinics reject these types of prospective parents, simply for convenience. They are more complicated cases, and they represent a very low volume within the total fertility processes.

We firmly believe in the right of all people to be parents, regardless of race, creed, sexual condition, or health status. That is why we have developed specific programs for men with HIV (and women with HIV) or hepatitis, so that they can achieve their dream of being parents with all the guarantees for all parties involved.

The surrogacy process for men with HIV or Hepatitis is more complex than in the rest of the cases, and requires a little more time since the material has to be washed, then the sample has to be frozen because first of all it is necessary to check with a small portion of the sample, the virus has actually been removed.

Once it has been verified that the virus is not present, artificial insemination or in vitro fertilization treatment can be performed once the semen is thawed.

Given the complexity of the issue, we advise you to get in touch with your family advisor.

HETEROSEXUAL COUPLES

Parenting through the surrogacy process, popularly known as surrogacy, is generally the last option for most heterosexual couples who cannot have children naturally. Although artificial insemination and in vitro fertilization are usually the first steps, there are couples with serious fertility problems who see surrogacy as the only solution to having children.

In a surrogacy process, the couple with the desire to have a child is known as intended parents. For its part, the woman who carries the pregnancy to term and therefore gives birth to the baby is called pregnant. It is important to note that the term surrogate mother or pregnant mother is incorrect, since the woman who is pregnant will not be recognized as a mother.

It takes the will of both parties to obtain a successful result. Future parents are those who intend to be and those who initiate treatment. However, carrying it out would not be possible without the participation of the woman who will allow the birth of her baby.

The surrogacy process consists of different stages:

Choose the destination where to perform the surrogacy,
Hire the necessary professionals: surrogacy agencies in the destination country, specialized lawyers, assisted reproduction professionals …
Choose the pregnant woman.

HOMOPARENTAL COUPLES

More than 85% of our fathers are gay couples, or gay single men, who at a certain point in their life have received the call of fatherhood. Surrogacy for homosexual couples, or for single gay men, is the best way to achieve paternity, due to the practical impossibility of successfully carrying out an international adoption process. In the last two years, the number of cases of surrogacy in Colombia has exceeded the number of international adoptions.

Since the creation of our program, we have helped you realize your dreams of being parents.

SINGLE FATHER

Possibilities to be a single parent

The uterus is the organ necessary to carry a pregnancy and the birth of a future child to term. Obviously, men lack this organ and, therefore, the options to fulfill their desire to be a father are the following:

National or international adoption.

Copaternity.

Surrogacy is the only reproductive process that allows a single man to be the biological father without having to involve another woman in the responsibility of paternity, mainly for two reasons:

The woman who offers to carry the baby, although she is a fundamental part of the process, has no rights or obligations over it. Therefore, the woman’s involvement disappears after the baby is born.

The man who wants to become a father can contribute the genetic endowment (the sperm) and resort to the donation of eggs to create the embryo that will give rise to the future child.

It must be borne in mind that there are many steps that must be followed until finally reaching the birth of the child and each of them involves an expense. In summary, the main steps for a surrogacy process are the following:

Medical review of the intended parent.
Choose the pregnant woman.
Medical examination of the pregnant woman.
Attend the assisted reproduction clinic to perform IVF with the intended father’s semen and donor eggs.
Transfer of embryos to the pregnant woman.
Pregnancy.
Birth.
Documentation and returned to the place of origin.
It should be noted that the identity of the egg donor is anonymous, while the intended father will be able to maintain contact with the family advisor.
